His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has given his crucial approval to the AED30 billion ‘Tasreef’ project. This project is set to revolutionize Dubai’s rainwater drainage network by 700%, spanning all areas of the emirate. With a phased completion plan by 2033, this monumental infrastructure endeavour is designed to establish an advanced, secure, and adaptable drainage system to combat future climate-related challenges.
Sheikh Mohammed underscored the importance of enhancing Dubai’s sustainable infrastructure for its continued progress. The ‘Tasreef’ project will elevate the network’s capacity to over 20 million cubic meters of water daily, ensuring the emirate’s preparedness for the next century. Dubai Municipality, as the implementing body, will uphold the highest global standards and employ advanced Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM) for efficient excavation, demonstrating its unwavering commitment to the project’s success.
