Three strategic locations across Abu Dhabi which include Bateen, Yas Island, and Khalifa Port across Abu Dhabi will allow flying taxis
Lodd, an Abu-Dhabi-based company specialising in automation, autonomous vehicles, and AI partnered with Skyports Infrastructure, an advanced air mobility company, to reveal the vertiport design across three locations in Abu Dhabi. The project aims to enhance the urban air mobility landscape and develop a vertiport network in the Emirates for electric vertical take-off and landing (evTOL).
The agreement was announced at the ICAO Global Implementation Support Symposium (GISS) 2025 on the 10th and 12th of February. The project connects key locations within the Emirate and is set to launch in 2026. The initiative highlights the emirate’s success and positions it as a pioneer in air mobility, launching a future-ready, green, and smart air mobility network system.
Rashid Al Mannai, CEO of LODD, said: “Abu Dhabi serves as a global model for air mobility, thanks to its progressive systems. These vertiports will lay the foundation for a future-ready air mobility network, supporting both commercial eVTOL passenger services and autonomous aerial logistics.”
Duncan Walker, CEO of Skyports, said: “The unveiling of these designs and the signing of an MOU highlights the progress being made to define and develop Abu Dhabi’s AAM infrastructure network. As our vertiport concept designs show, cargo is just as important to Abu Dhabi’s AAM future as passenger operations.” He continued, “The development of a comprehensive passenger and cargo network will enable us to bring wide-ranging benefits to the Emirate, for both people and businesses.”
The project aims to boost air mobility solutions by incorporating new infrastructure into Abu Dhabi’s transportation network. This will improve cargo and passenger movement, resulting in operational efficiency in logistics in the heart of the UAE.
