1. Dutco Balfour Beatty wins AED46mn DEWA HQ contract
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) has awarded an AED46mn contract to UAE-based contracting firm, Dutco Balfour Beatty, for the development of the first phase of its new headquarters.
Dutco Balfour Beatty won the deal after beating 10 international companies with the lowest bid, reported state news agency, Wam. The scope of work in Phase One includes shoring, dewatering, excavation, piling, fencing, and associated works. Read more…..
2. ECC wins contract to develop Mirdiff Hills Phase 1
Dubai-based contractor, Engineering Contracting Company (ECC), has been awarded the first phase of the Mirdif Hills Development project by Dubai lnvestments Real Estate Company (DIRC).
The project comprises three plots with a built-up area of 287,180 sqm and an expected construction duration of 24 months for each plot. Read more….
3. Arabtec subsidiary bags four projects worth AED289mn
Target Engineering Construction Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Arabtec Holding, has been awarded four projects amounting to AED289mn.
The scope of projects cover an array of specialisations, which include cofferdam removal and revetment construction in Western Region; award-winning high-rise development in Dubais Business Bay; fabrication and installation of duplex/SS process tanks in Taweelah Area; and EPC substation works (upgradation and replacement) on Das Island. 4. ADNOC appoints Arcadis for sour gas fields
Arcadis has been appointed by Al Hosn Gas, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), to perform
a Health, Safety and Environmental Impact Assessment (HSEIA) study for the Hail and Ghasha sour gas fields, the largest oil and gas project currently being planned in the UAE.
The fields are located offshore in the Arabian Gulf, around 90km and 130km to the west of Abu Dhabi Island respectively, and form part of the wider North-West area. Major work is being planned to create a number of artificial islands that will enable Al Hosn Gas to develop the sites, and, ultimately, produce and transfer gas and condensate from both fields. 5. DEWA awards $200mn power plant contract to Spanish company
Spanish company, Duro Felguera, has won a AED798mn contract for the third phase of Dubai Electricity and Water Authoritys (DEWA) K-Station at Jebel Ali. The project includes the supply, installation, testing and launch of 2 F-type gas turbines from Siemens AG that will produce 590MW. The plant is planned to be operational by the second quarter of 2019.
K-Station is part of the Jebel Ali power and water desalination station, and one of the main plants providing Dubai with reliable, efficient and high-quality electricity and water services. Read more….
6. Azizi awards AED118mn contract for its Downtown Jebel Ali project
Azizi Developments has awarded the AED118mn construction contract for its latest project to Al Qandeel Contracting Company. The 17-floor Azizi Aura in Downtown Jebel Ali will be home to 479 residential units, 349 of which are studios.
Farhad Azizi, CEO of Azizi Developments and Mufeed Al-Zeir, managing director of Al Qandeel at the Murjaan Ballroom signed the deal at Madinat Jumeirahs Conference & Events Centre. Azizi said: We are pleased to appoint Al Qandeel Contracting Company for the 38-building project to exemplify our line of high-quality, efficiently-designed residences in this community which will soon be pulsating with life. 7. Nakheel awards AED1.5bn contract for Palm Gateway
Nakheel has signed a construction contract worth nearly AED1.5bn for The Palm Gateway, a new, three-tower residential, retail, and beach club complex at the foot of the Palm Jumeirah. The developer appointed Shapoorji Pallonji Mideast to carry out the work, which will begin in Q2 2017 and take two and a half years to complete.
The Palm Gateway includes 1,265 luxury apartments across three high-rise buildings the tallest topping 285m to be constructed on top of the existing Palm Monorail terminal, which includes 14 levels of parking spaces. Units range from one- to three-bedrooms and will be available on lease. The waterfront living and leisure complex, set in extensively landscaped grounds, will also have an abundance of retail, dining, and health and fitness facilities, including parks, pools, and sports courts. 8. Aldar awards AED1.7bn Yas Acres contract to Trojan General
Abu Dhabi-listed developer, Aldar Properties has awarded Trojan General Contracting an AED1.7bn main contract for the first three precincts of its flagship development on Yas Island Yas Acres.
The contractor mobilises on site immediately as it works on all infrastructure, 652 villas and townhouses, the golf course, golf club house, mosque, retail, and community clubs. This follows the recent completion of the early works package, with Yas Acres recently surpassing its first construction milestone of 10% completion.
The main package will be delivered over a period of 32 months, and across the three precincts launched thus far. Aldar is committed to handing over the first homes in Yas Acres to purchasers at the end of 2019. 9. SNC Lavalin wins EPC contract from Saudi Aramco
SNC-Lavalin has won a contract with Saudi Aramco for engineering and project management services for a gas oil separation plant in Saudi Arabia. New facilities are proposed at Saudi Aramcos existing plants at Abu Ali and Khursaniyah to process a potential increased output of Arabian Light crude from the Berri Field on the east coast of Saudi Arabia.
SNC-Lavalins scope of work includes front end engineering design (FEED) for a new 250 MBCD (thousand barrels of oil per calendar day) gas oil separation plant at the existing Abu Ali Gas Plant, as well as additional facilities at the Khursaniyah Gas Plant that will process 40 MBD (million barrels per day) of hydrocarbon condensate, all associated with the Berri Crude Increment. Under the contract, Saudi Aramco may also utilise SNC-Lavalin to provide technical support services for the construction phase. Read more….
10. Salini Impregilo wins AED1.6bn Meydan One contract
Salini Impregilo has won an AED1.6bn contract to build Dubais Meydan One Mall. Major construction work is to begin this year and finish within 23 months, the Italian firm said in a statement.
Initial work involves overseeing the excavations and building the sub- and superstructures for the complex, including the foundations for the indoor ski slope and the concrete support for the malls steel retractable roof. The Mall is part of a massive urban development project located between Meydan and Al Khail Road, close to the heart of the city. Read more….
