Turner and Townsend has hired a senior director in Qatar and added two new associate directors following significant business growth and a doubling of the head count over the past 18 months.
Stephen Carroll, who has 22 years of experience in commercial and cost management, takes up the role as director in the property division. A chartered member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), Stephen has spent the last decade in senior management positions in South Africa.
He was appointed a partner of one of Africa’s leading quantity surveying consultancies at the age of just 34 and by the age of 40 was a director at a public construction firm, before setting up his own project and construction cost company in 2013.
Turner and Townsend has also added two associate directors to our property team – Paul Rathband has been recruited alongside Helen Caress, who has been promoted internally. This follows strong business growth, particularly in the property sector, which has seen a significant rise in turnover over the last 12 months.
The company has almost doubled its head count in the Gulf state from 62 at the end of 2014 to 117 in April this year (2016).
Stephen McCartney, Country Manager for Qatar, said: “We’re delighted to have Stephen on board. He has an excellent track record in cost and commercial management, having been involved in some of the largest property developments in Southern Africa.
“His entrepreneurial experience running his own consultancy will bring added expertise in driving further business growth in the property sector. We also welcome two new associate directors, who are indicative of our rapid rise in resource capability.”
Stephen Carroll, Director for Turner & Townsend, added: “It’s an enormous privilege to be joining a global leader in construction and programme management and to have the opportunity to work as a senior leader of a highly successful property team.”
