Alaa Abusiam has been the CEO for Egis the Middle East since 2021. Alaa has over 20 years of experience in engineering, growth management, business transformation and development in fast-growing environments across the Middle East, Sub-Saharan Africa, the United States and Latin America.
Under Alaa’s leadership, the latest achievements in the region include:
- Egis ranks in 6th place for the first time on ENR’s 2022 top 10 International design firms in the Middle East category.
- The acquisition of Waagner Biro Bridge services broadening Egis’ offering into the construction of bridge
- structures, marine and coastal engineering, and O&M activities.
- The growth of the Middle East team to over 2,000 employees (more than doubling in size)
- The win of multiple big projects in the region in 2022: (projects to be announced upon client approval
- currently we have approval to only announce our contract with DGDA)
- An 30% increase in turnover (from 2020 to 2021) with a predicted much larger increase from 2021 to 2022
Future plans:
- Continue to accelerate and grow our business in the Middle East organically and through acquisitions
- The completion of the 2nd acquisition in the region in 2022, WME
- As a group, the strategic priority to contribute to carbon neutrality by 2050
