Business growth: Middle East: FY2022 revenue was GBP72.6 million, which surged to GBP105.7 million in FY2023, marking a 37% increase. We secured significant programme work with esteemed partners, solidifying our presence in the region. The expansion of our workforce by 18% regionally underscores our commitment to sustained growth.
Expansion of our business in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and major programme work winning – Our KSA business experienced a 66% revenue growth in the last year, expanding our services from cost management to contract services, asset management, programme advisory and sustainability consulting. Significant new commissions obtained across the region have enabled our growth. New appointments include agreements with Roshn, Amaala, Discovery Land, NEOM, DGDA, PIF, NMDC. Multiple new commissions have been secured with existing clients such as Mubadala, Nissan/Infinity, Amazon, Nakheel, Misk Foundation, PIF, Red Sea Global, and Sports Boulevard Foundation, among others.
Investing in our people – Alan is the driving force behind the ME Vision 2025 adoption and has been instrumental in creating the Middle East roadmap for the company’s business strategy. The company has invested heavily in regional training programmes, including the Licenced to Lead training programme, which is on track to train every line manager on purposeful leadership. The commitment to learning and development has led to increased training opportunities. The “Your Professional Future” network has expanded to over 100 members, leading discussions on COP28 and digitisation in the construction industry.
New service line growth: We have launched our Programme Advisory service line in the Middle East, and we are working throughout the region to establish and transform the delivery of key major programmes. Our sustainability and net zero service offerings have been successfully launched in the region, and Dubai Municipality and Kahraama (Qatar) are our first public sector clients for this service line.
Creating an inclusive workplace.
We are focussed on promoting our top talent and increasing diversity at senior levels, and Alan is committed to making year on year improvements. This year, Alan signed the CEO pledge and our regional business joined the Middle East Inclusion and Diversity Council. Turner & Townsend is the first company in our industry to join this council in the region. Alan is now working with leading private sector organisations including LinkedIn, PWC and CitiGroup to drive region-wide change.
Alan has built a culture centred around inclusivity. The company has established an employee network to promote workplace inclusivity, launched listening groups for mental health support, and celebrated cultural diversity through the implementation of a cultural calendar, national day events, and an Inclusion book club. NeTTwork, our internal networking initiative, provides monthly opportunities for our people to build relationships across our regional business.
Construction education: Training the next generation.
We partnered with Design Engineer Construct and Heriot Watt University to bring a dedicated construction curriculum to students in the Middle East., aiming to create a pathway to higher education and employment. By providing real world insight to enhance teaching and learning, we aim to inspire the next generation into careers in the built environment. We are also collaborating with CBRE and Princess Nourah University to inspire female students into careers in construction.
