In Saudi Araba, Hamed continues to play a leading role in AECOM’s ongoingcommitment to Vision 2030.Under Hamed’s tenacious management, AECOM’s dominance in the KSA market continued with large-scale and exciting wins such as the NEOM International Airport and extending our role on AlUla as the executive program management.As our expansion into these key transformational mega-projects continues, Hamed has grown the leadership team to ensure strong leadership and a relentless focus for delivering an exceptional output for these clients.
In Qatar, under Hamed’s guidance, the team continues working on the final stages of the Ministry of Transport’s already award-winning bus infrastructure development which will see all of Qatar’s bus services electrified by 2030.
In the UAE, Hamed is a trusted advisor to clients. We continue to deliver transformative projects for the public and private sector, and secured contracts for large-scale projects with Aldar and Miral.
Approaching its third year, our Sustainable Legacies strategy is more than being ecologically-minded. We’re listening to clients and our communities to offer end-to-end support that delivers lasting change. Our place as an ESG leader in the region is proved by our recent appointment on a high-profile confidential sustainability advisory contract, as well as our recognition at the ME Sustainability Innovation Awards 2023 as the Green Consultant of the Year, achieving this title for the second-year running.
With thrive as one of our core values,Hamed drives this internally by supporting flexibility, valuing diversity and embracing the development of AECOM talent, especially those starting out in our industry. Our Advance program providesgraduates with mentoring, technical development and tailor-made learning pathways. This year, the program doubled its intakecompared to last year, andwelcomed around 70 graduates with over 50% of the new cohort being female, a further year-on-year improvement in terms of female inclusion.
Hamed recognizes that a diverse team is a key competitive advantage and to further embed ED&I into our business and to support the local UAE government, efforts have increased to promote Emiratisation within our workspace and around 14% of the Advance program cohort is Emirati.Other substantial ED&I achievements include the significantly improved maternity benefit enhancement that was announced on International Women’s Day and the launch of the Alliance mentoring program, dedicated to supporting the development of high potential female employees where Hamed himself is a mentor for a senior engineer based in Qatar.
Delivering a better world starts within the communities in which AECOM operates. Partnering environmental preservation and team wellbeing, a group of 60 employees came together to kayak around and learn about the Mangroves in Abu Dhabi. Each participant planted a mangrove tree to support the conservation of this vital ecosystem. Marking its eleventh year, and with the support of Hamed annually, the graduate committee arranged for the distribution of 4,200 Iftar meals during Ramadan to laborers working on five project sites across the UAE, Qatar and Bahrain.
In a quick response to the devastating and individual Turkey, Syria and Morocco earthquakes and the Libya flooding, donation drives were quickly arranged regionally to collect warm clothing, blankets and baby items for the victims. Further donation drives include a toy donation with the Red Crescent to gift to children in need over the Christmas holiday, and a toiletry donation drive marking International Women’s Day, providing over five boxes of products for a women and children’s shelter in Dubai.
