The Awards

Construction innovation awards 2022 is one of the leading events applauding the achievements of the region’s construction professionals. The awards strive to recognise individual excellence, corporate strengths, and project success. Companies are invited to nominate the people, projects, and initiatives of which they are most proud of, across 35 categories.

The awards presentation will happen at a gala dinner in a five-star venue – a celebration which has proven to be a great social occasion and essential networking opportunity. Winners will receive a commemorative trophy, plus extensive print and online coverage of their success in Construction Business News ME. COMPANY AWARDS

This category recognises the outstanding property developer active in the regional market in the 12-month period to the end of July 2022. Judges will be looking for an exemplary track record of delivering a range of outstanding projects on time during this period and to the highest standards. Preference will be given to entrants that provide evidence of innovation, complexity, productivity, and quality.

Entries for the Real Estate Developer of the Year category should support their nomination with no more than 1,000 words and include the following information:

  • Name of the company, workforce, headquarters
  • Financial results for the previous two years or nearest estimates
  • Demonstrate ways in which the company has grown in the past year in terms of revenue, profit, opening new offices, expanding its service offering
  • Details of all new projects launched during this period
  • Details of projects completed during the period

  • Details of any CSR and Sustainability initiatives

The award for the Facilities Management (FM) Company of the Year will go to the outstanding performer in region’s FM sector in the 12 months to the end of July 2022. Judges will be looking for strong evidence of growth and expansion during the period, delivery of quality service, innovation, and use of new technology.

Entries for the FM Company of the Year award category should support their nomination with no more than 1,000 words and include the following information:

  • Name of the company, workforce, headquarters
  • Financial results for the previous two years or nearest estimates
  • Demonstrate ways in which the company has grown in the past year in terms of revenue, profit, workforce, opening new offices, expanding service offering, etc

  • Details of any CSR and Sustainability initiatives

Contenders for the Health and Safety (HSE) Initiative of the Year award will need to provide details of an initiative successfully executed in the GCC in the 12 months to the end of July 2022. The category is open to all companies operating within the construction sector in the region. Special merit will be awarded to companies that can demonstrate the initiative has had a wider impact on the industry.

Entries for the HSE Initiative of the Year award should support their nominations by providing the following information in no more than 1,000 words:

  • Details of the HSE initiative and why it was introduced
  • How staff have been trained in the new safety initiative
  • Explain how the initiative has delivered results and how success was measured
  • Explain how the innovation has changed the safety culture at the company

This category is open to any company that has created an innovation to improve the construction process

Entries should focus on at least one example of specific innovation. This could be a new trailblazing innovation that exemplifies innovative design and function, or a ground-breaking process that changed how a project was delivered.

The innovation could be site or office based, and entrants should be clear whether the innovation lies in performance, cost, health & safety, reliability or other factors, and provide supporting evidence.

Entries from Best Innovation in Construction Award should support their nomination with no more than 1,000 words and include the following information:

  • Demonstrate ways in which the company has used innovation to improve the construction process

Entries for the Software Solutions Company of the Year category should support their nomination with no more than 500 words and include the following information:

  • Financial results for the previous two years or nearest estimates
  • Demonstrate ways in which the company has grown in the past year in terms of revenue, profit, opening new offices, expanding its service offering
  • Evidence of outstanding work in the past 12 months

The award for Property Management Company of the Year will go to a PM firm or asset management firm that’s making rapid strides either through its own FM division, or via its outsourced FM operator. Best demonstrating the value for its clients and stakeholders while keeping service charges competitive.

Entries for the Property Management Company of the Year should answer the following questions in a total of no more than 500 words:

  • What are some of your outstanding achievements over the last 12 months?
  • Have you increased your business share in the leasing and renting space, give details.
  • What is the value of the assets you manage, give a rough break down (residential/commercial)?

The award for Technology and Innovation in FM Award will go to the company that has successfully incorporated technology and innovation into its core services.

Entries for the award should answer the following questions in a total of no more than 500 words:

  • What impact has the implementation of technology had on core services?
  • How has the incorporation of technology benefitted the company in reducing costs and improving its internal infrastructure?
  • Were any new services developed and introduced as a result of technological advancements?
  • To what degree has technology enabled the company to become competitive in the market?

This award goes to the Best Real Estate Broker who have exceled when it comes to selling homes, commercial properties, and showcased why they are the best real estate brokers in the Middle East.

The award for Supplier of the Year will go to the organization who can demonstrate their most efficient and productive impact to their suppliers and innovators.

Entries of the Supplier of the Year should support their nomination by providing the following information in no more than 1,000 words.

  • Name of the company, workforce, headquarters
  • Financial results for the previous two years or nearest estimates
  • Demonstrate ways in which the company has grown in the past year in terms of revenue, profit, opening new offices, expanding its service offering

Winner of this award will need to demonstrate how their construction equipment is both innovative and useful for the final end-user. This includes will include Construction, Machinery, Generators, Earthmoving, General Tool, Lifts, Material Handling, and New Tech.

The award for Excellence in Customer Service will go to the company that demonstrates the best record of keeping customers satisfied and retaining them.

Companies should submit in 500 words about the initiatives they have taken to ensure the best customer service has been given

The winner for the Sustainable Contractor of the Year is given to the real estate developer with an exemplary track record of delivering a number of high-quality sustainable projects. Nominees are invited to submit their best supporting evidence along with their nomination forms.

Entries for the MEP CONSULTANT OF THE YEAR category should support their nomination with no more than 500 words and include the following information:

The winner for the Energy Services Company of the Year goes to the firms that have made a demonstrable impact on the energy industry, whether through innovation, influence, and overall impact in improving energy efficiency and sustainability. The winner for the Sustainable Real Estate Developer of the Year is given to the real estate developer with an exemplary track record of delivering a number of high-quality projects. Nominees are invited to submit their best supporting evidence along with their nomination forms.

This award category recognises the outstanding architectural firm in the 12 months to the end of September 2021. Judges will be looking a firm, which delivers high quality projects in the MENA region. Judges will be looking for the firm’s greatest achievements, projects, and financial summary of the relevant period.

Entries for the Architectural firm of the Year category should support their nomination with no more than 1000 words about the firm and its progress.

The award is for the outstanding fit-out firm of the year who has delivered some amazing projects in the past 12 month till September 2022. The limelight would be on firm’s completed projects, financial summary, nature of clients, and other accomplishments.

PROJECT AWARDS

The Commercial Project of the Year Award will be awarded to the office project that makes an important contribution to its surroundings, demonstrates construction best practice, and can show how construction techniques and technology have contributed to its success within 12 months till July 2022.

Winners may have developed a demonstrably new and different technique or process or may have harnessed emerging or existing technologies to create new or improved products, tools or services leading to better built outcomes.

This category awards the best overall project with multiple and combined functions, including (but not limited to) commercial, residential, co-working, institutional, health and wellness, cultural, hospitality, sports and recreation, transportation and more, and are physically and functionally integrated.

This category is dedicated to any type of building and development that is already in progress or slated to begin construction soon, and gives an insight into what the future may hold through distinct architectural, use of advanced technology, and environmental qualities.

The PROJECT OF THE YEAR Award will be awarded to the project that makes an important contribution to its surroundings, demonstrates construction best practice, and can show how construction techniques and technology have contributed to its success within 12 months to the end of January 2022.

Entries for the PROJECT OF THE YEAR should support their nominations by providing the following information in no more than 500 words:

The winner for the Sustainable HVAC Product of the Year goes to the HVAC Manufacturer whose product showcases the best sustainability feature. Nominees are invited to submit their best supporting evidence along with their nomination forms.

The award will go to the best interior fit-out project of the year on the basis of design, fit-out works, and technology. This award will be chosen by a panel of judges who will take into account the project that showcases excellence in main areas of fit-out.

Entries should support their nomination with no more than 1000 words of description of the project and the note-worthy fit-out features.

INDIVIDUAL AWARDS

The Project Manager of the Year award will go to the individual who can demonstrate supreme project management skills on major and complex projects over the past 12 months till July 2022.

Entries for the Project Manager of the Year should support their nomination by providing the following information in no more than 1,000 words:

  • Name of the person, his full job title, job duration with the company
  • Details of project/s worked on during the period for the company
  • Evidence of strong organisational ability during the period
  • Evidence of managing complexity and overcoming challenges during the process
  • Evidence of using innovation (new technology or techniques) in the delivery of the project
  • Evidence of overall successful delivery of a project or projects

The award for Engineer of the Year will go to the engineer who can demonstrate the greatest impact on his or her organisation during the previous 12 months. The category is open to any engineer working at any company operating within the GCC construction sector during the period.

Open to facilities managers aged 35 and under who have added value and actively contributed to a successful facilities management operation in any sector over the past 12 months.

Entries for the Young Facilities Manager of the Year should answer the following questions in a total of no more than 500 words:

  • How has the young facilities manager added value and actively contributed to a successful facilities management operation?
  • How has the young facilities manager contributed to the development of the company’s employees?
  • How has the young facilities manager contributed to the company’s reputation?

The award for CEO of the Year will go to the executive who can demonstrate delivering outstanding results at his or her organisation during the previous 12 months. The category is open to CEOs and other senior executives working at any company operating within the GCC construction sector during the period.

Judges will consider the projects completed in the last 12 month until September 2021, those in pipeline and other achievements. Initiatives related to sustainability and environment should also be mentioned.
