Contractor of the Year
This award category recognises the outstanding main contractor active in the Qatari construction sector in the 12 months to the end of April 2017. Judges will be looking for an exemplary track record of delivering a number of outstanding projects to clients on time and on budget during this period and to the highest standards of quality and safety.
Entries for the Contractor of the Year category should support their nomination with no more than 1,000 words and include the following information:
- Financial results for the previous two years or nearest estimates
- Demonstrate ways in which the company has grown in the past year in terms of revenue, profit, workforce, opening new offices, expanding its service offering, etc
- Details of all new contracts won during this period
- Details of projects completed during the period
- Evidence of delivering projects on time and to budget
- Evidence of an impeccable safety record
- Details of any CSR and Sustainability initiatives
MEP Contractor of the Year
The award will go tothe outstanding MEP contractor operating in the Qatar construction market in the 12 months to the end of April 2017.Judges will be looking for an exemplary track record of delivering a number of outstanding MEP projects to clients on time and on budget during this period and to the highest standards of quality and safety.
Entries for the MEP Contractor of the Year category should support their nomination with no more than 1,000 words and include the following information:
- Financial results for the previous two years or nearest estimates
- Demonstrate ways in which the company has grown in the past year in terms of revenue, profit, workforce, opening new offices,expanding its service offering, etc
- Details of all new contracts won during this period
- Details of projects completed during the period

Specialist Contractor of the Year (other than MEP)
The award will go tothe outstanding Specialist Contractor of the Year (other than MEP) operating in the Qatar construction market in the 12 months to the end of April 2017. Types of sub-contractor include but are not limited to: Fitout, Landscaping, Earthworks, Scaffolding, Cladding and glazing, ICT, etc. Entrants can be a sub-division of a main contractor. MEP companies should submit nominations for the MEP Contractor of the Year category instead.
Judges will be looking for an exemplary track record of delivering a number of outstanding projects to clients on time during this period and to the highest standards of quality and safety.
Entries for the Specialist Contractor of the Year category should support their nomination with no more than 1,000 words and include the following information:
- Financial results for the previous two years or nearest estimates
- Demonstrate ways in which the company has grown in the past year in terms of revenue, profit, workforce, opening new offices, expanding its service offering, etc
- Details of all new contracts won during this period
- Details of projects completed during the period
- Evidence of delivering projects on time and to budget
- Evidence of impeccable safety record
- Details of any CSR and Sustainability initiatives
Consultancy of the Year
Contenders for the Consultancy of the Year award will need to demonstrate a strong track record of delivering a number of exceptional projects in the 12 months to the end of April 2017. Judges will award extra merit for evidence of innovation andsuccessful delivery of complex, ambitious projects. All types of construction consultancy companies (quantity surveyors, cost consultants, engineering consultants, project management consultants, etc) are qualified to nominate.
Entries for the Consultancy of the Year category should support their nomination with no more than 1,000 words and include the following information:
- Financial results for the previous two years or nearest estimates
- Demonstrate ways in which the company has grown in the past year in terms of revenue, profit, workforce, opening new offices, expanding its service offering, etc
- Details of all new contracts won during this period
- Details of projects completed during the period
- Evidence of delivering projects on time and to budget
- Evidence of impeccable safety record
- Details of any CSR and Sustainability initiatives
Property Developer of the Year
This category recognises the outstanding property developer active in the Qatar market in the 12-month period to the end of April 2017. Judges will be looking for an exemplary track record of delivering a range of outstanding projects on time during this period and to the highest standards. Preference will be given to entrants that provide evidence of innovation, complexity, productivity and quality.
Entries for the Property Developer of the Year category should support their nomination with no more than 1,000 words and include the following information:
- Financial results for the previous two years or nearest estimates
- Demonstrate ways in which the company has grown in the past year in terms of revenue, profit, workforce, opening new offices, expanding its service offering, etc
- Details of all new projects launched during this period
- Details of projects completed during the period
- Evidence of delivering projects on time and to budget

Facilities Management Company of the Year
The award for theFacilities Management Company of the Yearwill go to the outstanding performer in Qatar’s FM sector in the 12 months to the end of April 2017. Judges will be looking for strong evidence of growth and expansion during the period, delivery of quality service, innovation and use of new technology.
Entries for the Facilities Management Company of the Year award category should support their nomination with no more than 1,000 words and include the following information:
- Financial results for the previous two years or nearest estimates
- Demonstrate ways in which the company has grown in the past year in terms of revenue, profit, workforce, opening new offices, expanding service offering, etc

Architecture Firm of the Year
This category recognises the outstanding Architecture Firm active in the Qatar market in the 12-month period to the end of April 2017. Judges will be looking for a company that can demonstrate evidence of rapid expansion through new project wins and can show that it has delivered headline making designs to satisfied customers. Preference will be given to entries that provide evidence of innovation.

Health and Safety Initiative of the Year
Contenders for theHealth and Safety Initiative of the Yearaward will need to provide details of an initiative successfully executed in Qatarin the 12 months to the end of April 2017. The category is open to all companies operating within the construction sector in Qatar. Special merit will be awarded to companies that can demonstrate the initiative has had a wider impact on the industry.
Entries for the Health and Safety Initiative of the Year award should support their nominations by providing the following information in no more than 1,000 words:
- Details of the HSE initiative and why it was introduced
- How staff have been trained in the new safety initiative
- Explain how the initiative has delivered results and how success was measured
- Explain how the innovation has changed the safety culture at the company
Sustainability Initiative of the Year
Contenders for theSustainability Initiative of the Year award will need to provide details of an initiative successfully executed in Qatar in the 12 months to the end of April 2017.The category is open to all companies operating within the construction sector in Qatar. CSR Initiative of the Year
Contenders for the Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR)Initiative of the Year award will need to provide details of an initiative successfully executed in the 12 months to the end of April 2017.The category is open to all companies operating within the construction sector in Qatar. Special merit will be awarded to companies that can demonstrate the initiative has had a wider impact in the industry.
Entries for the CSR Initiative of the Year should support their nominations by providing the following information in no more than 1,000 words:
- Details of the CSR initiative and why it was introduced
- Explain how the initiative has delivered results and how success was measured
- Explain how the initiative has changed or benefitted the culture of the company
Project Awards
Project awards are for the entire team that worked on the project in question including project owner, architect, main consultant and main contractor. Nominations should be submitted by just one member of the team. In all cases the project must be in Qatar and be structurally completed within the 12-month period ending April 30, 2017.
Entries for all project categories should provide the following information in 1,000 words or less:
- Full details of the project, the companies that worked on it and their scope of work
- Explain why the project was developed and how it has/will benefit the area
- Evidence of innovation in the project’s development
- Show successful handling of complexity or challenging working conditions
- Demonstrate use of advanced technology in the design and build of the project
- Show adherence to construction deadlines and budget
- Show adherence to the highest standards of worker safetyand welfare.
Project of the Year
The award for Project of the Year will be given to a truly outstanding project that ticks all of the boxes mentioned above but that has an additional wow factor that no other project possesses, such as a truly unique and iconic design.
Most Innovative Project
Innovation is the key word here so it’s the first thing judges will look for. Special merit will go to projects that are the first of their kind in the country or the wider region.
Infrastructure Project of the Year
This category covers all infrastructure projectsincluding utilities, recycling and waste management, roads, bridges, railways, ports and airports.
Commercial Project of the Year
This category covers commercial projects such as office buildings.
Retail Project of the Year
This category covers retail projects such as shopping malls.
Hospitality Project of the Year
This category covers hotel buildings, resort complexes and other tourism related projects.
Residential Project of the Year
This category covers residential projects which can be towers or villa developments.
Tall Building of the Year
This category covers towers with a minimum of 15 floors and can be residential, commercial or hospitality, etc.
Sustainable Project of the Year
This category coversany construction project (commercial, residential, infrastructure, etc) that can demonstrate sustainability as a key feature of its design. This can include initiatives such as: carbon reduction; energy/water saving; water recycling; renewable energy production.
Individual Awards
All individual awards cover activity during the 12-month period ending April 2017
Project Manager of the Year
The Project Manager of the Year award will go to the individual who can demonstrate supreme project managementskills on major, complex projects over the past year.
Entries for the Project Manager of the Year should support their nomination by providing the following information in no more than 1,000 words:
- Details of project or projects worked on during the period
- Evidence of strong organisational ability during the period
- Evidence of managing complexity and overcoming challenges during the process
- Evidence of using innovation (new technology or techniques) in the delivery of the project
- Evidence of overall successful delivery of a project or projects
Engineer of the Year
The award for Engineer of the Year will go to the engineer who can demonstrate the greatest impact on his or her organisation during the previous 12 months. The category is open to any engineer working at any company operating within the Qatar construction sector during the period.
Entries for the Engineer of the Year should support their nomination by providing the following information in no more than 1,000 words:
- Details of projects worked on during the period
- Evidence of using technical ability and using innovative techniques
- Evidence of going the extra mile to achieve results
- Evidence of taking responsibility for personal development
- Evidence of contributing to the success of their company
Construction Executive of the Year
The award for Construction Executive of the Year will go to the executive who can demonstrate delivering outstanding results at his or her organisation during the previous 12 months. The category is open to CEOs and other senior executives working at any company operating within the Qatar construction sector during the period.
Entrants for the Construction Executive of the Year category should support their nomination by providing the following information in no more than 1,000 words:
- Evidence of the company’s growth and financial success during the period
- Details of contracts won and projects delivered during the period
- Evidence of the executive’s contribution to this success
- Evidence of helping the organisationto evolve and develop
- Clear evidence of innovation during the period
Lifetime Achievement Award
This award will go to an individual that has made an outstanding contribution to the construction and real estate sector in Qatar during the course of his or her career. This award will be chosen by a panel of judges.
